Microsoft baru saja mengumumkan kehadiran Windows 8 Beta versi Consumer Preview untuk dijajal ke publik secara terbatas. Nah, apa spesifikasi untuk bisa membuat sistem operasi ini berjalan di personal computer (PC).
Sebenarnya spesifikasi yang dibutuhkan untuk bisa mencicipi sistem operasi terbaru ini cukup sederhana dan mudah dalam menginstall-nya. Terlebih bila Anda sebelumnya sudah menggunakan Windows 7, maka kebutuhan untuk mengunduhnya tidak jauh berbeda.
Dilansir melalui Cnet, Kamis (1/2/2012), beberapa syarat spesifikasi Windows 8, diantaranya adalah:
1. Prosesor 1 gigahertz atau lebih cepat
2. RAM 1 gigahertz untuk 32-bit atau 2 gigahertz untuk 64-bit.
3. Hard drive 16 gb untuk 32-bit atau 20 gb untuk 64-bit.
4. Sebuah kartu grafis yang mendukung Microsoft DirectX 10 atau lebih tinggi.
Ada juga beberapa tambahan yang tidak akan bekerja tanpa spesifik tertentu. Sebab Windows 8 yang mendukung fitur sentuh akan membutuhkan sebuah monitor layar sentuh atau tablet. Mengakses Windows Store memerlukan koneksi Internet, jelas, tetapi juga resolusi layar minimal 1024 x 768. Dan untuk Snap aplikasi, yang memungkinkan Anda membagi layar antara dua aplikasi, Anda akan memerlukan resolusi minimal 1366 x 768.
4 Fitur Unggulan Pada Windows 8
Presiden Divisi Windows Microsoft, Stefen Sinofsky menyebut Windows 8 sebagai perubahan besar yang pernah dilakukan Microsoft setelah Windows 95. Setidaknya ada 4 fitur unggulan yang di tawarkan windows 8, antara lain:
- Dapat digunakan di komputer tablet. Windows 8 ini tidak saja bisa bekerja di laptop dan desktop, tapi yang lebih penting lagi, dia bisa difungsikan di tablet. Inilah yang membedakan Windows 8 dengan OS yang sebelumnya.Selain itu, Microsoft juga memperkenalkan antarmuka Metro di Windows 8 yang sebelumnya sudah diperkenalkan di Windows Phone. Windows 8 telah dirancang untuk layar sentuh dengan prosesor berbasis ARM. Saat ini smartphone dan tablet dijalankan dengan teknologi ARM.
- Windows 8 menjanjikan kinerja yang lebih cepat. Hal ini dilakukan dengan mengurangi jejak memori, waktu booting yang semakin singkat dalam tempo kurang dari 8 detik. OS ini juga didukung USB 3.0 dan Hyper-V sehingga bisa bekerja secepat iOS dan Mac OS X Lion. Diprediksi akan banyak orang mungkin akan terkejut dengan kinerja Windows 8 yang cepat.
- Adanya Windows App Store. Tentu saja ini bukanlah hal yang sama sekali baru, sebab ini hanya mengikuti saja apa yang dilakukan Apple dengan iOS Apple App Store.Kini keberadaan toko yang menyediakan unduhan aplikasi sudah menjadi keharusan dalam ekosistem teknologi. Adanya Windows app store ini akan menciptakan peluang bagi pengembangan aplikasi-aplikasi Metro. Ini adalah cara Microsoft melawan iOS App Store milik Apple.
- Windows 8 sudah dilengkapi dengan layar. Meskipun tetap bisa dijalankan dengan keyboard dan mouse, tapi tampilan antarmuka Metro dengan layar sentuh akan menjadi masa depan Windows 8.Microsoft amat sadar tidak akan membiarkan dirinya terjebak di Zaman Batu. Masa depan berada di komputasi mobile. Orang akan semakin jarang bekerja dan duduk di depan desktop. Sebagai gantinya, orang-orang lebih suka bekerja dengan tablet yang bisa dibawa kemana-mana. Dan untuk itu, Windows 8 adalah sebuah taruhan bagi Microsoft.
